Can You Use DAA for Your Post Cycle Therapy?

is my boyfriend going to die from taking prohormones

Have you been wondering if you can use DAA (D-Aspartic Acid) as part of your post cycle therapy or PCT. If so, then you’re not alone. In fact we recently had a reader question asking just that.

And while we answered the question: Can you use D-Aspartic Acid for Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) in the comments, we really feel it deserves a fuller response. But before we get to that, we need to clear up some things about DAA.

Can you use DAA for post cycle therapy?
D-AA in powder form is cheaper than capsules – though it does have quite a bitter taste.

What is DAA (D-Aspartic Acid)?

D-Aspartic Acid is an amino acid that is found naturally in your body. It’s main job is to create and release hormones in your body. So we can agree that it’s fairly important stuff, but what does it have to do with the world of lifting and hard training?

Here’s the thing – DAA has been found to increase a certain chemical in your brain that then leads to testosterone production. We want testosterone production as that’s one of the key ‘musclebuilding’ hormones. More testosterone also = more energy, aggression and a lower likelihood that you’ll stay home on Saturdays watching chick-flicks on Amazon Prime Movies.

What Effect Does D-Aspartic Acid Have on Testosterone Production?

So here’s the thing – supplementing with DAA has been scientifically tested and shown to have a positive effect on testosterone production. But the research suggests that the men that benefit the most are overweight, untrained men. When weight training men supplemented with the stuff, there was no increase over a 28 day period.

So DAA does help to increase testosterone production but might not be so effective if you already lift weights. So, can you use DAA for PCT?

Can you Use DAA for PCT?

In short, no. I would not use just DAA or post cycle therapy. While it may have a positive effect, it does not perform the function that other PCT products , particularly arimistane, will.

But I would, and have, used DAA as part of an overall Post Cycle Therapy stack which included arimistane, a cycle support supplement, a natural T booster and D-Aspartic Acid. I prefer to use the powder as the science backs a dose of around 3-4 grams being optimal – that can get expensive if you use pills or capsules.

Because DAA is a naturally occurring amino acid, it’s entirely legal to buy and use in most places (check first though if you’re unsure). You can buy it on Amazon or from a reputable supplement retailer (we like Monster and Predator Nutrition, partly because they both sound cool).
